Rules of the Game

4 October 2009 |

Just to clarify, a forward pass occurs when the player " loses possesion of the ball, and the ball moves in a forward direction. " Therefore, as long as the player regains control of the ball after niftily throwing it over Colins head then no fowl has been commited. If however, the player is touched when the ball is in the air, it counts as a normal touch and it is a roll ball. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzvnexjWJYg for proof. If you watch it carefully, he throws the ball behind the line and catches it after. The ball has therefore gone forward and play is allowed to continue!!!

Our captain a hero !

20 September 2009 |

This day saw our captain dive into the river and aid his friends who had tipped over whilst on a canoeing trip.

Ayers who has been described as a weak swimmer by himself and who only this summer was a victim of a freak incident where he had to be rescued by lifeguards several miles off shore. The Coastguard said, 'a lifeguard spotted an idiot who was naked at the time on a lilo which was drifting out to sea' the lifeguard placing himself at risk managed to resue the bather who claimed to have had one to many beers and had dosed off.

Sorry I digress, Adamski saw events unfold in front of him and instinctively dived into the waters somewhere to the west of Turvey, and saved a family from the dangerous currents.

It was admirable to see up until the point he took his shirt off to ring it out, then the casualties began to mount.

An award should surely be given and Adam should be remembered in the anals of the club for ever more. Well done sir ! we salute you.

Moods

Just to let you all know, i wasn't in a bad mood on sunday, i was just in pain. I care that much about CHTRC. Also, why were there Misfits playing, i didn't want to be too rude and ask why they were there?

Some suggestions from the Bingster

If we go for a London adventure we could goto Jongleurs in Camden for a comedy night. 8pm start till 10.30... £17 per ticket. Thoughts or am I being too ambitious my furry friends....?

Or

Maybe a mini bus to Stony Stratford..? I have not been but I am told a great stretch we can discover the old Cock and Bull story....

Start of season

13 September 2009 |

New season started today.
6 combatants turned up this morning, Jason slightly tardy, forgivable. Excuse was 'was looking for my ball' inexcusable.
Line up was Pete, Sunil, Andy, Will, Adam, Jason.
Spectators consisted of the Family Tongue avec Les Chiens
Score 36 - 36 and no one threw up

where were: Katie, Simon, Neil, James, Steve, Brian, Bingo, Clan of Tustings etc etc ?
Big turn out required for next week, 09:30 for those that have forgotten.

Barry may have been tractoring
Colin came up with a very quick excuse this morning, 'give me 2 weeks i need to get fit' - quicker getting fit on the pitch methinks

LET'S be 'AVING YOU.

see you all there next sunday, just to persuade you Jason has convinced Lucy to turn up

Super Human Fitness

23 July 2009 |

The results from the first CTRC (no H) fitness test are revealed today. Conditions were perfect at the CTRC stadium (in H) for the inaugural test. Following in the footsteps of Lance Armstrong and David Beckham, Andy S + Joe and Jamie T + Jason P lined up (in some cases twice) to put their bodies on the line in the name of fitness improvement. Official results so far (personal best times without age weighting*);
Jason P 6.3 - I was pleased with that!
Andy 'Shep' S 7.1 - my bail out was his marker, I was kind of a pace maker........
Joe 'Boy' T 9.2 - not on the night
Jamie 'Bleepmeister' T 13.2 - not on the night
Ed 'The Eagle' T 14.7 - not on the night
Lance A/David B (Benchmark) 20.15 or something
But hey, winning, isn't everything, PBs are there to be bettered and I believe a true measure would be % improvement. But then I would say that, wouldn't I. Hopefully we will see a better turn out at next Wednesdays (7.30pm) training where those who wish to bleep can do, before we have a game. Look forward to seeing you all then.
*Actual score + 50% of your age - if you can be bothered.

FW: Clog Training

21 July 2009 |

From Jason chaps

Having discussed training arrangements with skips today (his internet is broke) the directive is as follows:

  1. Wednesday night training match 7.30pm 'til about 8.30/9pm at Harrold until end of summer holidays (and possibly beyond as long as the light holds) – followed by a couple of beers obviously.
  2. Suspend Sunday training until first Sunday after schools go back. (Sunday 6th September at 9.30am).

There may be the odd match/tournament opportunity which will be dealt with as and when……

Point of Order

|

Interesting question recently raised by Brian viz-a-viz where has the 'H' appeared from?

So what is the ettiquette when try to raise an issue outside of the normal AGM/meeting cycle.?
Answer is you need a poo.

So how should you set about this?

  1. Sit down think very hard and put what you have on a piece of paper.
  2. Roll it up
  3. Put it through Bingo's letterbox

Clear ?

The name change!!!

|

It appears that there has been some kind of name change within the new technological switch over and a 'H' has appeared. Can some senior management of the club advise, please? At the moment the logo is still omitting the 'H' as previously many eon's ago agreed with the founding father.

technophobe no more / training

20 July 2009 |

That took no time to figure out how to use the blog and not email.
I bumped into the Adamski only this afternoon, he was bleating about his internet, can you Pete as our resident tIT visit him and reset his modem. He also mentioned weds night training, I think we should! Or rather I need to!!!

Anyway I think we discussed this at the AGM between pretending to be slash on the Wii and drinking frogs, sunday sessions are to be withdrawn forthwith for the summer, and substituted with weds nights as and when people are around.

Adamski also mentioned a tournament at Sharnbrook.

Charity Calender

|

Guys,

To set the record straight (as the Jungle Drums have been banging) the proposed charity 2010 calender is NOT a nude job.......

Tasteful images of us men 'at work' 'training' enjoying social time in the pub etc is the order of the day.

I have spoken to a mate at ORFC and we can borrow their Scrummaging machine for the shoot and Kevin (who i met at Evie's party) has agreed to take professional photo's

I will of course publish (FOC) and the proceeds are to go to Carlton School.

I need a date, maybe a Sunday Morning where all are available (or the majority, the rest can be photo'd after) Please all comment or e-mail to let me know.

all,

i hope you dont think i'm some sort of technophobe,
i have reviewed on the blackberry and was impressed but think that
your other halves may get the wrong idea about our training regime
with those inappropriate images, all meetings and training sessions
are incredibly important to upkeep our rugby standards.

i suppose i should have used the blog for this mmmmmm

Gentlemen,

I have had now i think two incidences of people questioning my work as far on my position as Marketing Dictator.

There are two responses to this...

1. If you want me out call an EGM as stated and please TRY and vote me out...you will fail.

2. There is a huge deal in the pipeline with a MAJOR local company, i of course can't divulge any information at this sensitive stage, however i will say if it does come off not only will we all be decked out in the finest garbs, train in luxury hotels around the world and want for not one piece of training equipment, we will also have free hair cuts and indeed 'curled'.

As for the amount of e-mails still being recieved/sent...........I LOVE IT!!!!

Bleep Test

|

A suggestion from Jamie

Bleep test definition

Looking forward to the next few months, i feel it important to keep
the fitness up, especially because of the lack of games we have to
maintain fitness levels. Therefore, i think that it may be beneficial
to ALL to carry out a bleep test on a sunday morning over the few
weeks. It may not be everyones cup of tea but it may be an exercise
that could help in the long term. It may also be a chance for people
to boost egos. Please let me know you thoughts.
